We Are Underestimating the Impact of AI

AI's short and long-term impact is being underestimated. Innovations like AI Agents are getting exponentially better. The human brain thinks linearly.

I attended Day 1 of The Wealth Mosaic's inaugural conference, Live 2025, in Atlantic City and the theme may sound like more AI hype but maybe it is not being hyped enough.

AI + Emerging Tech + Wealth Management with a bleeding edge focus.

There is a saying "We overestimate the impact of technology in the short-term and underestimate the long-term".

I think we are underestimating the impact of product innovation because of AI advancements across the board.

Case in point: Conor Walsh with Romina Day created a great AI video that spoofed Ancient Romans making bad decisions that could have been prevented if they had AI to help them. Their name is a play on words that with tech maybe they could build ROME IN A DAY.

After that session we reminisced about AI producing six fingers and multiple arms when it generated pictures... that was only a year ago. Now you can make a movie in a few hours.

Romina Day creates AI Agents to complete tasks for large wealth and asset managers. They call them MATES. They do the manual work that firms currently have high-cost employees doing like fund research, return calculations, writing research reports, or documenting due diligence on private assets.

Today they write the code to create the MATES. But soon the MATES will be able to write the code to make the new MATES for the next wave of clients. Wrap your head around the exponential capabilities of what they will be able to provide in the next few years. Then think about how your business will be able to handle competitors that are incorporating agents today a few years from now. Kind of scary.

While it feels sci-fi, it is not fiction. Claude Sonnet 4.5 launched two weeks ago and they claim it is now the best coding model in the world. ChatGPT has released a new version about every 6-12 months. The new versions aren't like going from iPhone 16 to 17. They are exponentially better, just like going from three arms and six fingered GenAI pictures to full movies, the same is coming for business infrastructure.

Buckle up
